Well, as long as you're a pre-pay (pay as you go) user anyway. The info doesn't seem to have made it onto Vodafone's web site yet, but as from 1st June, pre-pay users in the UK will be charged £2/MB for mobile data rather than the current £7.30/MB. It's not exactly flat rate, but it's a step in the right direction for those of us that don't want to go on contract.

Nokia has released Nokia Video Manager for Windows PC. The software helps you copy videos to your phone and transcodes them on the fly (converts them to an optimal format). Nokia Video Manager supports conversion from avi, mpeg, wmv and mov (DivX, XVid, MPEG-2 and Quicktime codecs) to mp4 (H.264). As such it is only compatible with devices that can play back the H.264 format.

The new platform was announced at a Palm Analyst meeting and is described as a new foundation for Palm. The MOTORIZR Z8, Motorola's recently announced UIQ powered multimedia smartphone, will be climbing Everest in the company of Mark Baber as part of a Motorola sponsored expedition to make a phone call from the top of the worlds tallest mountain.
