PC Lifeblog upgraded to version 2.5

Nokia have quietly shipped a new version of the PC portion of Lifeblog, the multimedia life recording tool. The new features include the addition of a tag engine, the addition of a new 'stacking' view parameter to the time line, improved slide show creation and viewing and support for basic image editing.

Coming soon: Bluetooth 2.1

At the recent CTIA event the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) announced that the core specifcation for Bluetooth 2.1 will soon be made available to vendors. Devices using the new specification are already being demoed and commercial availability will follow shortly. Bluetooth 2.1 allows for easier pairing of devices (including a provision to use NFC), uses less power and is more secure.

BBC to trial syndication of TV channels over 3G

The BBC has announced plan to begin a 12 month trial to syndicate its TV channels over 3G mobile phone networks in the UK with operators 3, Orange and Vodafone. A number of radio channels will also be available. Separately the BBC has also announced an enhanced version of  the BBC Mobile site.

Snake Reinvented? Not really...

Nokia announce 5700 XpressMusic

5700Nokia today announced the Nokia 5700 XpressMusic handset. The 5700 is a 3G (WCDMA 2100) quad-band GSM phone that has the same twist design as the earlier 3250 (but is smaller and lighter). The 5700 has a 2.0 megapixel camera, microSD card slot (supports cards up to 2GB for storing around 1,000 tracks), stereo speakers, and a 2.5mm audio jack. Its runs S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 (Symbian 9.2).

Nokia talks Next Gen Arena

Nokia's head of games publishing Tomi Huttula has given an interview to GamesOnDeck.com about the next generation of the N-Gage Arena. An upgraded version of the Arena, Nokia's mobile online gaming service and community, is due to be at the heart of Nokia's Next Generation Gaming Platform. The platform is due to launch this September across a range of existing and future Nokia S60 3rd Edition smartphones. (via the Official N-Gage Blog)
