In a vote of confidence in S60's built-in IM (Instant Messaging) client, the Symbian Blog bites the bullet, sets it up and finds that it works well with the major IM hosts (Yahoo, ICQ, MSN & AIM). If, like me, you've always assumed you had to go third party, this might be a nice surprise.

locr - geotagging for S60 phones

locr is a photo hosting service with a geographical tilt. It encourages its users to geotag (encode location information) into their photos. Last week locr announced the availability of an S60 client which allows you to geotag photos on your phone (S60 2nd and 3rd Edition). We'll be covering geotagging in more detail later this week.

As usual, the malware poses as a utility on a file sharing site, so that the user accepts the installation prompts, etc. Just steer clear, and stick to downloads from reputable sites like, oh, off the top of my head, AllAboutSymbian...

Direct Downloads to Nokia Video Manager

Nokia Video Manager has been updated to version 1.5 and now supports the direct download of videos. Videos can be downloaded from the web via special links (nvd://) directly into Nokia Video Manager making it easier to get videos on to phones such as the Nokia N95. Metacafe is one site that supports this functionality and we've added it to All About Symbian too. Read on for more.

Psiloc's Font Magnifier claims to let you mess with the system font on your S60 3rd Edition smartphone - Ewan puts it to the test. It certainly works, though not really for the use that I suspect Ewan was hoping for (getting more information on screen at once)...
