NTT DoCoMo has launched and shipped the Sharp FOMA SH904i, based on Symbian OS and the MOAP platform. The SH904i is equipped with a touchpad to give 'an operational feel similar to a PC', and a 3" widescreen. Glossy pic below...
Nokia's Mark Ollila, one of their Games executives, is to give a speech at the Game Developers Conference China 2007, which will presumably mention their upcoming Next Gen N-Gage Games Platform that's due to open its doors to various S60 3rd Edition devices this September. GDC China takes place from 27th to 29th August in Shanghai, so it's possibly just a few days before the launch of the new platform.
Smartphones Show 33, now live and on YouTube, has a hands-on review of the WinMob-powered HTC S710, plus a video feature looking at ten things current smartphones can do that the otherwise cool Apple iPhone can't. The ten are demo-ed on current S60 3rd Edition hardware, but many also apply to other Symbian OS-powered devices.
Hmm.... Geekzone reports that Google Calendar is now available in beta for mobiles. Interesting, and I hadn't tried this before. Here's the link for your smartphone web browser: http://www.google.com/calendar/m - it didn't seem fully functional to me. Comments?
After yesterday's unboxing of the flagship E90 Communicator, we have the unboxing of the Nokia 5700 'twister' music smartphone today. Go to it, Krisse! Review to follow... (Please post any questions about the 5700 in the comments thread of this news item.)
Although available for most other Symbian OS platforms, AquaCalendar for UIQ 3 is reviewed here by P990 devotee and guest writer Asri al-Baker. Summary: plenty of eye candy and functionality, Asri reckons it makes PIM more fun!
Just in - the boxed Nokia E90 Communicator and (almost complete) sales kit. It's not a production device, but it's oh so close. Firmware is v7.21, by the way, dated Monday! Full unboxing photos and notes below!
Following on from the Virtual Pool Mobile news (below), I've been reviewing another new Pool release for selected S60 3rd Edition smartphones. In my review of MicroPool 2007 you'll see that it is a different beast, firmly in the 'pick up and play' category, but it impresses with good physics, an intuitive interface and good sound effects.
In this review Ewan takes a look at Spodtronic, a combination podcast and internet radio client. Ewan finds a good looking and well thought out application, but one with some noteworthy limitations.

Martin Sauter is hosting this week's Carnival of the Mobilists, plenty of good reading, as always, especially Michael Mace's piece on Nokia's plans to reinvent itself (and some of the comments).
Engadget's normally best known for its street-savvy news takes, but in this case Chris Ziegler earns an AAS Link Of Interest for his most excellent, balanced appraisal of the Nokia N75 clamshell. Also check out MobileBurn's Nokia N75 review. The N75 is only available in the USA, remember, so we're unlikely to see a review unit, but these reviews are so good that I don't think another review is really needed.
