Just announced by Vodafone UK, a brand new Vodafone Live web-squeezing portal (rebranded Google Mobile?), better access to popular webmail accounts and much cheaper data charges for all, effectively including £1 for up to 15MB(!) for prepay customers and £7.50 for 120MB per month for contract customers. Symbian has announced their 2007 Smartphone Show, at the usual ExceL centre, on Oct 16/17th, along with a new web site for the event. All About Symbian will be there in force, of course, with an extra gathering, details to be announced.
DreamConnect 3 is an alternative contact manager for UIQ 3 smartphones. The developer just announced v3.02, with improved speed and a number of bug fixes. Review coming shortly from me. The press release is below.
Projekt, already available for every other Symbian-based interface, has finally hit S60 3rd Edition, with a full spread of compatibility. One of the most mature third party applications in the Symbian OS world, Projekt is an outliner at heart, but with links, notes, import and export options, it can be used to manage projects too.
Lines is a classic computer game, to be sure, but maxing out levels can get a little monotonous after a while. Enter Happy Lines, here reviewed by Ewan, promising to put a little more life in the genre, with differently shaped levels and happy/sad counters.
It seems high profile blogger Robert Scoble has got himself a Nokia N95, with a clear month to assess it before his iPhone arrives. Yes, they're two different devices for largely different markets, but it'll still be interesting to see his analysis of the two, one after the other. Having a virtual camcorder in your pocket (well, in your smartphone) means being able to grab ad-hoc moments for posterity. But how embarrassed will you be with the quality when these moments are later burned onto DVD and played back through a proper TV? I investigate....
Asri al-Baker examines the 'Today'/Home screen in a succession of devices, from the Sendo X to the MOTORiZR Z8 (developed by much of the ex-Sendo team), asking why Sony Ericsson messed up so badly with the P990 Home screen. Asri also doesn't sound that convinced with the P1i Home screen (although of course it's still early days for this).
