Proving both that OPL development and the software scene for the Nokia Communicator aren't dead yet, AAS's own Arjen has come up with a spiffing version of the popular game Battleships, for the 9210, 9300 and 9500.
Symbian Themes has announced it has now converted all of its existing themes to be compatiable with S60 3rd Edition. Darla reports that there's a new version (1.7) of the popular ShoZu S60 photoblogging client. The main improvement is that "there's a cost-saving option to upload 'blog quality' photos, if desired, rather than full resolution images." Something we really, really missed from previous versions.
SEPT Solutions has announced a new version of Mobile Search that will work on S60 3rd Edition devices. We still think this function should be part of the OS, but until that day, this is a good stop-gap.
The new Nseries devices (N93, N73 and N72) will all have built-in support for Yahoo's! Flickr service. No details as yet on the exact nature, but given other S60-based Flickr apps, and the press release comments of having the facility in the Gallery application, I'm expecting an extra 'Send to Flickr' on the menu options. Following up the recent S60 YahooToGo! application, this is a great bundling service for Flickr.
Just to prove that there's plenty of life left in your old UIQ 2.x smartphone, Steve's been reviewing Flip Extender, a terrific way of accessing full UIQ functionality with your P900/P910 flip closed, while Ewan reviews Clarissa, a reminder utility that pops up notes when making or receiving calls.

Just spotted this entry on Antony Pranata's blog, announcing the availability of a Series 60 3rd edition screenshot utility. It's a port of his existing app and it's still freeware. Kudos to him for getting it out so quickly and AAS will find this very useful in making our upcoming reviews even prettier.
