OggPlay for all

Published by Steve Litchfield at 14:20 UTC, April 30th 2006

Hey, listen up! There's a whole new release (1.69) of OggPlay on the loose for all S60, Series 80 and Series 90 users. So that's basically the whole Symbian world apart from UIQ users (who are still on 1.1). S60 3rd Edition users read on... There's also a version for S60 3rd Edition devices and the developer would love some feedback on what it does and does not do. If you can help test this, email Stuart Fisher [mailto:fig7@users.sourceforge.net]. Thanks.

This release says it'll work on n70 and n90, but did not work on my n70. It still hangs when scanning for files, closes app, and returns to menu... Its been like this for all oggplay tries on the n70. i think ive tried every friggin release to date. Anybody else having this problem, or is this just something im experiencing? I would like to know if this release has worked on anybody's n70???
Thanks,
Mike

Do you have any MP3s on your phone/memory card? I have found that the built in MP3 MMF plugin on the N70 can't cope with some high-bitrate MP3s and this causes any program that tries to access them to crash (including the built in music player and OggPlay).

Try deleting all of the music from your phone, then adding it back one album at a time, doing "Find New Files" in OggPlay after adding each album. This will allow you to find the problematic MP3s.
