Apparently, one of the biggest Nokia E90 competitors, the Windows Mobile-powered i-Mate Ultimate 7150, has now been axed without even making it into production. No idea whether this is due to the perceived market for such a clamshell or simply because i-Mate have other problems...
A new firmware update is available for the Nokia N76. Continuing the trend set with other devices the update adds the A2DP and AVRCP Bluetooth Profiles for stereo audio over Bluetooth. The menu structure has also been rearranged and there are a number of stability improvements and bug fixes.
Samsung looks set to release some interesting S60 devices in the future. A number of rumours concerning new devices have appeared on the web over the past few weeks. The Samsung i450 is a slim slider with HSDPA connectivity and 1GB of internal memory. The i550 is a bar shaped phone with a built in GPS and a 3.2 megapixel camera. With 3G, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, a QVGA touchscreen, a 3.2 megapixel camera and a full QWERTY keyboard it mixes multimedia and enterprise capabilities in equal measure. Nokia has issued a recall for certain BL-5C batteries made between December 2005 and November 2006. Most BL-5C batteries are unaffected. To find out if your battery is affected, please visit the specially set up Nokia battery recall website and scroll to the bottom of the page. The affected batteries were made for Nokia by Matsushita, but they only carry the Nokia branding. If you have an affected battery, Nokia and Matsushita will replace it for free.

Issue 65 of PDA Essentials magazine is out today and contains a 7 page 'Best Converged Device' round-up, in which the Nokia N95 trounces the HTC Advantage, the HTC P3600 and the Fujitsu-Siemens Y830, with the editor proclaiming the Nokia N95 as 'one of the company's finest moments'.
It's another big update to my cross-platform Grid, this time tweaking a number of device scores and adding the Sony Ericsson P1i. Which smartphone comes out on top for you? Just plug in your preferences and comment back. For me, the Nokia E90 and N95 are tied - which sounds about right.....
