Nokia's Eseries range of devices may have an enterprise focus, but that does not mean their users are not interested in music playback. In this article Steve describes how to get the optimum music performance out of your Eseries (E60, E61, E70) phone.
Following on from last week’s tutorial on using Nokia’s DIY Firmware Updated, the Nokia N91 is the latest phone to be added to the list of compatible devices. I took the plunge last night and updated the music phone to v2.00.052. There’s no real difference in the process compared to other devices, although it is highly recommended you back up your phone. Moconews has a great interview with one of the VP's from Gameloft, and it touches on a lot of the issues we all know are in the mobile space - advertising and promotion, gaining new customers, the cost of mobile games and a lot more. Worth checking out.
Interested to spot over on ARNnet, HTC's president stating that they wouldn't rule out working with Symbian OS. Not that it's likely or imminent, but interesting nevertheless, with HTC making most of the world's Windows Mobile hardware. Note also the shipping figure at the end of the piece, which agrees with the Symbian OS market share figures in previous AAS analysis (60% or so).
Though AAS have not yet been able to get a review model out of Sony Ericsson, others thankfully have. Here are detailed reviews from My-Symbian and The Register, both with a very different slant. Rafe suggests that UIQ 3 is a bit like Marmite (love it or hate it) - read the reviews and make up your own mind!
According to a report on Gamesindustry.biz, Nokia is to be joint sponsor along with PC World of the 2006 BAFTA Games Awards. Nokia will sponsor the Gameplay award which is voted for by members of the public, and is apparently carrying the N-Gage brand. This continued support for the name implies that they're going to continue using it with their Next Gen games service due to launch in the first half of 2007 on new Nokia S60 smartphones.
Attention N-Gage and N-Gage QD owners: the acclaimed pirate-themed strategy game High Seize is now just €9.99 via download at the N-Gage Game Shop. Arcade game Mile High Pinball and martial arts simulator One are also still available at the reduced price of €9.99.

Hey, it's my (3-Lib's) turn to host the world famous Carnival of the Mobilists. Ten or so choice articles to while away your coffee break... Here's Carnival no. 43.
This is a biggie - I review the Nokia N73, featuring perhaps the best camera ever put into a smartphone but with a few less impressive design and quality issues. Stuart Clark provides a welcome second opinion. And you can leave yours in the comments...
The Nokia E61 seems to be garnering legions of fans round the world. Not least long-time Palm OS devotee and Windows Mobile journalist Shaun McGill, who has recently decided to jump platforms and make the E61 (and S60/Symbian OS) his smartphone of choice. And he's writing about it, too, here's his E61 blog.
