Sony Ericsson joins Eclipse, developer roundup

Published by at

Sony Ericsson has joined the Eclipse community as an Add-in Provider member. Eclipse is an open source platform designed for building IDE's for various platforms and languages. Read on for more information and a UIQ 3 developer round up.

Sony Ericsson has already made a plug-in for CDC development available, and a plug-in for C++ development is also likely to be made available. The Eclipse IDE is also used by the Carbie.c++ Express developer tool and plug-ins are also available for other Symbian platforms.

"We have received many requests from developers to support open-source initiatives. Eclipse is language independent allowing us to cater for both UIQ 3 and Java™ Platform, Micro Edition developers. Eclipse has an active community with strong support, and its plug-in architecture makes it possible for companies like Sony Ericsson to extend its use and help further develop and refine it for the benefit of the global developer community," says Mikael Nerde, Head of Developer Program & Content Planning at Sony Ericsson.

More information is available on the Eclipse website and Sony Ericsson Developer World
