Nokia N91 DIY Firmware Update Now Available

Published by at

Following on from last week’s tutorial on using Nokia’s DIY Firmware Updated, the Nokia N91 is the latest phone to be added to the list of compatible devices. I took the plunge last night and updated the music phone to v2.00.052. There’s no real difference in the process compared to other devices, although it is highly recommended you back up your phone. One other piece of advice, as well as backing up your phone, format the hard drive as well. Yes, you’ll loose all your contents, but this is a great chance to clean out everything from your phone. And if you went to a service centre, this would happen in any case.

N91 Updated

My N91 has been around since just before launch, so it’s had more bug fixes than those bought in the shops, but straight away the music player feels a little bit nipper and more responsive to the playback controls when sitting in the background. And the font for the digital clock has changed as well. Which Steve says is newsworthy, but I think he’s being sarcastic [too right - Ed]

We’re all on the lookout for a changelog, and when we find one, we’ll post it here. For the moment, the update to v2.00.xx of the firmware appears stable, and polishes the rough edges of the N91. It’s at your own risk, naturally, but I can’t think of a reason why you wouldn’t want to do this.
