Available for every other computing platform, under different names, this popular puzzle finally comes to S60, thanks to an AAS forum member's Java version. Here's my review of Chain Reaction.
Anyone reckoning that Nokia has been dragging its feet over bringing in Mini-USB connectors for its devices might like to consider that they've just approved a new Micro-USB design, with smaller size and greater durability, so maybe they're going to go straight from Pop-Port to Micro-USB? Via PS.
The N93 and other Nseries phones have been receiving attention from a cross the web. At the Mobile Gadgeteer Matt Miller has a post on 'beauty and the beast' as he takes a look at the Nokia N93 and N73. After a number of disappointing game titles recently, I'm pleased to announce reviews of a couple of real crackers. Ewan is delighted by STPuzzles for UIQ 3 smartphones (like his new consort, the W950i), while krisse is utterly blown away by K-Rally for S60 3rd Edition (also available for S60 1st/2nd/N-Gage, coming soon on UIQ3). Enjoy.
The long, long awaited Sony Ericsson P990i firmware update is now live on SE's Update Service, according to a forum member. The new version is "R4A13" (Org) and seems to have around 2MB more RAM at boot up, plus better memory management generally. Note that this is for unbranded devices only, as usual.
AAS chief Rafe Blandford weighs in with his official predictions and challenges for 2007, along with an assessment of what he got right and wrong from last year's predictions piece. Essential reading for anyone in the industry or who is interested in where the Symbian OS world is going. Plus, a bonus preview of the front cover of Symbian magazine, Dec 2007...
Interesting to see the other famous(!) video-obsessed Nokia N93 nut, Steve Garfield, posting his long term thoughts on the device. Interesting too to see that he's hit some of the same lock-ups that lose precious footage as me. Summary: great device, but Nokia must fix the camera bugs in the v20 firmware.
Ewan continues his first steps with the Sony Ericsson W950i, demonstrating how to hook it up to his PC and how to install his first application. And Happy New Year! Rafe'll be along in a while with some 2007 predictions...
