If you'd like to get involved, drop your details off at the Mobipod Preview page .
You may remember I looked at the first version of OfficeSuite for S60 smartphones and was quite impressed, despite a few niggles. Now the 3rd Edition version is also out and has the same idiosyncrasies - here's the updated review and relevant info/buy links.
The first question everyone asked when Nokia announced Python for S60 was "when." The second was "where's the source code then?" Well, now the unasked third question can be answered with a quick visit to the Sourceforge Project Page for PyS60 to pick up the S60 3rd Edition version of Python. Just take note of the release notes when they say This is not a final stable release. There are sharp edges and pointy bits. Wear gloves. Keep away from children. (Thanks to Jim for the heads up).
There is more to good photos than megapixels, you have to consider camera component quality and custom firmware too. Steve's been testing various smartphone cameras and in this feature he compares the photos produced by the Nokia N70, N80 and N90, along with the i-Mate K-Jam.
Ewan's been trying out a Bluetooth novelty. BlueRader will scan for specific Bluetooth smartphones in your vicinity and alert you when they're close by. Plenty of suggestions for use and a few caveats in Ewan's review. (There's also a S60 3rd Edition in development, by the way)
Nokia has released the Flickruploading tool for the Nokia N72. Although unsupported, it also works on the Nokia N70 and N90. The tool allows you upload images to Flickr from both the built-in Camera and Gallery applications. You can configure the upload to send the original or a medium or small-sized image.
Steve Litchfield looks at the Nokia N80 and finds that cutting edge specifications do not automatically give the N80 the title of best S60 smartphone. Here's the review. Update: there's now a video review, too, as part of Smartphones Show programme 12.

Steve reviews TrafficTV, which claims to give any smartphone owner in the UK access to traffic hold-up information and exclusive roadside CCTV images from trouble spots. Summary: surprisingly useful and genuinely clever, but only within its coverage area.
Widely regarded as the pinnacle of S60 2nd Edition hardware and the biggest selling smartphone of all time, the Nokia N70's also now won a major industry award, as 'Best Mobile Entertainment Handset'. Details in the press release below.
