If you have the time to come to London next week for Symbian's Smartphone Show, here's another event to attend, albeit with some overlap. Motorola, Sony Ericsson and UIQ Technology will host an informal evening for developers to relax, have fun and do some networking. Details below.
At 'the definitive consumer awards event' last night, the Mobile Choice Awards, the Nokia N95 was voted the ‘Dream Handset’, ahead of the Apple iPhone, while Nokia's other flagship, the E90, was pipped to the post for 'Best Smartphone' by the Blackberry Curve. MEX has some analysis of the night and of some related industry trends.
Symbian has just added a number of new speakers to its Smartphone Show agenda, including a VP of Samsung, the SVP of Freescale, the president of RIM and a director of Vodafone. Full details here, but I think it's safe to predict that there's going to be plenty to see and hear. And if you get into town early, see our own meet!
This is the question I've been trying to answer in Smartphones Show 44, using a Nokia N95 and a Bluetooth keyboard cold turkey for a working week. Did the experiment succeed? Seemingly more than a little after the fact, AAS regular Asri al-Baker has been consoling himself for not being able to make this month's pub meet and London Smartphone Show by reminiscing about his trip to the UK for the two events in 2004. Some nice photos and kind words!

Symbian has finalised its agenda and show layout for its annual Smartphone Show in London, on 16-17th October at the ExCeL centre. Listed below are some of the last minute speaker sign ups and some thumbnails, plus links. The show is free to attend, as is the AAS pub meet on the evening of the 15th, details to be announced, but the prize list is pretty impressive....(!) Oh, and keep the evening of the 16th free as well - watch this space.
Ho yes. Another year has flown by and we present the All About Symbian As-Official-As-It-Gets 2007 Pub Meet. Prizes, Demos, Speakers, Chit-chat and good beer. In case you haven't been to one before, here's AAS video podcast 21, in which I waffle on about what to expect from the pub meet and some other minor event happening the next day over in Docklands...
Good news and bad news. The bad news is that I think we'll be seeing a bit less of Krisse on AAS in the next few months. The good news is that Krisse is the driving force behind our sister site, All About N-Gage (RSS feed available here), with a terrific lead article on the really important points behind Nokia's N-Gage relaunch and the implications of it not being dependent on specific hardware, shops or operators.
