Rock Your Mobile! has announced the availablity of Movie Tones a Windows application which allows you to create video ringtones for your S60 smartphone from a variety of video and audio file formats. Once you have installed the Mobile Player you can select your created video ringtones as you would any other ringtone.
Mobimate today announced the forthcoming availability of a free version of it's best selling WorldMate application. WorldMate Free Edition will incorporate mobile advertising (provided by a partnership with Amobee Inc.) to provide a revenue stream for MobiMate. WorldMate is a travel information application providing weather forecasts, currency exchange, world clocks and more.
TomTom, developers of the MOBILE 5 satellite navigation software for all Symbian platforms, havs brought out a special Plus! pack aimed at football fans travelling into Germany for the World Cup, with POIs, voices and map themes. I think it's all fully MOBILE 5 compatible - anyone care to try it and report back?
The onslaught of major S60 titles ported over to Symbian OS 9 and S60 3rd Edition seems to have started in earnest. With v3.20, the much-recommended SmartMovie is now fully 3rd Edition-compatible, as well as fixing rebooting problems on Series 80 and 90 communicators.

Hey, Megasoft2000 have just produced the very first 3rd party software for UIQ 3 (the game Bowling). Kudos to them. Now we just need some actual smartphones to run it on! It has now been seven months since the P990 was announced and there's still no sign of it on store shelves. Patience is a virtue!
Comeks is an innovative application that allows you to create comic strips on your phone. You can use images stored on the phone or take new ones with the phone's camera. You then speech and thought bubbles, icons and frames to your images and arrange them into strips (multiple frames) as you go. Your finished creations can be shared via email, MMS and Bluetooth. Comeks works on all S60 2nd Edition phones.
