Gameloft N-Gage Prize Draw

Published by Tzer2 at 22:04 BST, April 21st 2008

These N-Gage promotions seem to be appearing thick and fast! This one is very simple and easy to enter though: just play any Gameloft N-Gage game (Asphalt 3, Brain Challenge, Block Breaker Deluxe) on your N-Gage phone (currently N81, N82, N95 and variants) and upload at least one score to the Arena before the 18th of May 2008. Everyone who does this is automatically entered into a draw for a range of prizes.

There are no geographical restrictions on this, anyone can enter wherever they live.

Apparently ALL of these prizes will go to five draw participants chosen at random, as a "Gameloft Prize Backpack". Each backpack will contain:

- Choice of Nokia N81 8GB or N95 8GB (hmm... who WOULDN'T pick the N95 8GB?!)

- N-Gage Backpack

- Brain Challenge for PC or Nintendo DS

- Block Breaker Deluxe Mood Lamp

- Grey N-Gage Sweatshirt

The winners will be notified by the 30th of May 2008. You can find out more including the official rules over on the Official N-Gage Site (the rules also include an address to write to if you want to enter the prize draw without buying anything, search for "no purchase is necessary").

Incidentally, the keener readers out there may notice that Block Breaker Deluxe isn't currently available on N-Gage, though it was available during the beta testing. Presumably Nokia's mentioning of this title means we'll be seeing it (re)released soon?

Hmm. At least in Brain Challenge it seems you have to actually buy the game first. Before you can do anything like uploade scores? I guess they forgot to write that step on the competition page.

Erm... isn't the whole idea of a game promotion to promote sales of games? :-)

Gameloft aren't doing this for charity, they want to encourage people to buy Gameloft N-Gage games.

Ah. But they don't write it - and that makes it confusing as there is also a trial mode. AND it is illegal in some EU countries to have competition that require purchase of a product. Including Denmark and Germany I believe.

Erm... isn't it obvious?

That's a really good point, it's the same in the UK too. I'd completely forgotten about that law. But it seems their lawyers have thought of this.

If you look at the terms and conditions of the competition, it does technically let you enter the draw without buying the game:

"No purchase is necessary. If you’d like to be entered in the drawing, and don’t own a N-Gage compatible device, send a 3x5 card with your N-Gage Player Name, Email Address, and Mailing address to N-Gage Arena Division, c/o Great Gameloft Giveaway, 650 Townsend St., suite 550, San Francisco, CA 94131, USA. The 3x5 card must be received no later than May 16th, 2008 to be eligible."

It's just like competitions on crisp packets and fizzy drink bottles, send a card to such-and-such address, no purchase necessary etc.

Sorry for off topic... but, anyways

What exactly is a 3x5 card? Is it just a normal card you use when on a hollyday and writes back home? Never heard about 3x5 before...

Back on topic:
What they should have done was to enable score posting in trail too. Maybe an own trail score table.. Just my thoughts

I prefer threads to go off-topic... :-)

It's just an American term for a postcard (3x5 means 3 inches by 5 inches, which is about 8cm by 12cm). It's exactly what you said, the kind of card you send while on holiday.

If they'd done that though, people wouldn't have been encouraged to buy the games.

This is just like the promos on crisp packets, they're there to make you buy the crisps.
