The Register is reporting that the Sun Newspaper (a UK tabloid) is running a special offer whereby you can buy the N-Gage for 1p. You have to sign up for a contract too (£28), but this still represents very good value for money.
OggPlay is an Ogg vorbis audio player for smartphones.It was first ported for the Sony Ericsson p800 smartphone running UIQ in April this year.The good news is that it has been ported to Series 60 and its now in early-alpha-preview stage - version 0.10.OggPlay has been tested with the following phones: Siemens SX-1, Nokia N-Gage, Nokia 7650 and it will probably work with other Series 60 phones.This release has couple of limitations.For more info and download vist OggPlay's website

AppForge have announced the forthcoming availability of Crossfire. Crossfire is AppForge’s mobile and wireless application development environment for Visual Studio .NET 2003 and the .NET Platform. Developers can write .NET platform-based applications which can then run on Series 60 and UIQ.

Nokia have announced the 5 winners of the Series 60 community awards. They are :- Most Innovative Service - t-zones from T-Mobile, Most Innovative Application - IR Remote from Psiloc, Most Innovative Multimedia Application - MGS Karting from Noumena, Most Innovative Accessory - Remote S60 from mobileways.de and last but by no means least Evangelist Award - My-Symbian. Nokia have today announced a new class of Symbian device the Series 90. This is the first touch screen Nokia category and they have announced their first product running this, the 7700. This is not the anticipated new communicator as it does not come with a keyboard. Its an innovative device however. For press releases see comments.
Nokia have announced that the 6600 has started shipping. In addition they have announced that Opera will ship with the phone. On the 32MB MMC included with the phone will be the Try and Buy concept. This enables users to try several popular applications 3 times to decide whether they are interested in buying them.
Open Bit has announced the launch of Superdistribution for Series 60. This is the ability to send programs from your phone to another phone using an option in the programs menu (built into by the author). Additionally the program can then be paid for by premium SMS. This is all facilitated through the Open Bit License Manager.
To celebrate the release of the new version of Opera for Series 60 AAS is launching a Mobile Opera specific version of the site. The mobile site is optimised for display in the Opera browsing and enables full access to the website when on the road.
Well there have been two official announcements from Opera today about their full featured web browser. Firstly its being included as standard on the new Nokia 6600 smartphone. Plus there is a new version for existing Series 60 devices. This new version is significantly smaller than the old version causing fewer memory problems. It also has several other enhancements. In light of the recent launch of the Sony Ericsson P900, which incorporates the latest version of UIQ, P800 owners have started a petition to Sony Ericsson requesting that they keep supporting the P800 by offering an upgrade to UIQ 2.1 for existing P800 users.
