Woolies (aka Woolworths - a UK high street chain) are selling limited numbers of N-Gages in some of their stores for £129.99. This is the lowest price seen in the UK so far, and brings the N-gage within £30 of the RRP for the Gameboy.
Metrowerks have announced the availability of the Siemens SX1 SDK. The SDK contains a commercial release SX1 as well as everything you need to develop for it. The cost is $1,150, but only limited quantities are available.
The Helix DNA Player Preview Release 1.2 is now available. This is the result of the Open Source Helix program (RealPlayer). The Helix player is effectively a more advanced Real Player. Supported media includes RealAudio G2, 7, 8, RealVideo G2, 7, 8, 9, H.263, AMR-NB, AMR-WB and MP3. The advanced profile version also supports 3GPP SMIL and 3GPP Timed Text.
An interesting Open Source J2ME Library has been released via SourceForge. The J2ME Game Libary is targeted at MIDP1.0 devices (such as the N-Gage), and provides classes for dealing with repainting, sprites and movement. Let's see what the Java programmers can do with that.
