SplashBlog now available for Series 60

SplashBlog from SplashData is now available for Series 60. SplashBlog streamlines the process of mobile photoblogging, allowing users to capture an image and publish it to an online photoblog. The client application for the phone is free and comes with a free online photoblog account at SplashBlog.com (for upto 100 images, subsequently the service is $29 a year). SplashBlog was previously available as an award winning application on the Palm OS and a UIQ version will be available shortly.

RoadSync and Documents To Go for Series 80

DataViz are showcasing RoadSync and Documents To Go for the Nokia 9300 and 9500. RoadSync is a Mobile ActiveSync client which enables remote access to Exchange 2003 enabling the accessing of Outlook e-mail, attachments, calendar and contacts on the road. RoadSync for Series 80 is available immediately. Documents To Go, expected to be available by the end of October, allows for the editing of Microsoft Word and Excel documents. With DataViz's InTact Technology complete original document integrity is maintained.

Your Train, Made In UIQ, From Girders

Tom Cooper's SmartMobile has another stunning looking UIQ game released today. It's Girders, and the premise is one of the most unusual in a mobile game I've seen in a long time. You have to build bridges, strong enough to take a train over ever widening gaps. Sounds crazy, but it works.

Nokia 3250 formally announced with XpressMusic brand

Nokia has formally announced the Nokia 3250 this morning. It will fit in Nokia's new XpressMusic branding (for handsets with dedicated music buttons and 3.5 mm headphone sockets). Key features inlcudes a 2MP camera, expandable storage up to 1GB for music via microSD (10 MB internal), a 3.5mm headphone socket, support for leading music file formats (MP3, M4A, WMA, AAC and eAAC+), 10 hours of music playtime, stereo FM (visual) radio, Bluetooth 2.0, Series 60 Platform 3 with Symbian OS 9.1 as the software package and an innovative twist design (oh and it's a phone too with tri-band GSM and EDGE support). The phone is expectd to cost approximately €350, and be available in Q1 2006.

Nokia 3250 previewed at Trends Berlin

Nokia has been showing off a forthcoming Series 60 phone, the Nokia 3250, at the Trends Berlin event last night. The 3250 is a music phone (as a 3 series phone it is likely to be targeted as a budget version of the N91 - no WiFi and no hard disk). Features include a fully rotatable bottom section incorprating a 2.0 MP camera (similar to the N90 in design, but lower quality lens), with music buttons on one side and a standard (3230 like) keypad on the other. The Threat of Mobile Malware is Bonkers

F-Secure previously documented a mobile phone virus that will infect the MMC card with a Windows PC virus that would infect if it was ever put in an MMC Card reader... and then quietly noting that while it appeared to be a proof of concept, it was the first serious malware. Now a Sophos senior tech consultant has a view on this announcement (reports Silicon.com), "...For the vendor to say that this is the first example of a serious mobile malware threat is plain bonkers."
