WildPalm releases Doom 7650 1.00

After months of waiting Doom 7650 has finally been released, just a shame that the application is so big that you have to remove virtually all applications just to make it run.

This is a big issue for most 7650 owners as the user space on the 7650 is less than adequate for "big" games such as Doom, and leaves little space for the phones main feature, pictures.

After reading the forum topic on this subject I noticed that the majority of people decided against installing this application preferring to leave smaller but still as useful applications on their phones.

I thought I may as well write to Wildpalm and see if there are any plans to make Doom any smaller, and when deathmatch will be included, this is the response I got:

Thanks for the interest.

Deathmatch over Bluetooth will definitely appear in a future release - but we don't have a release date for this yet.

Unfortunately we can't shrink the game any further without removing lots of the graphics - we've already shrunk the data from 3.5Mb down to about 1.2Mb. It's definitely a bit tight on the 7650, but it should be fine for the Nokia 3650.

So it looks like we will just have to put up with the large file size for now, or carry on with the GameBoy Advance. Which is a shame as the game itself is one of the best and most addictive games to date on the Nokia 7650. :(
