Ashley Montanaro has updated Bemused to version 1.4. The new version fixes some bugs and adds support for controlling applications besides WinAmp. This experimental feature includes control of Windows Media Player, and Powerpoint Viewer 97.

The full list of changes to the previous version (v1.3) is:

- Added ability to control different programs
- EXPERIMENTAL: added native support for Winamp 3
- EXPERIMENTAL: added support for Windows Media Player 7
- EXPERIMENTAL: added support for PowerPoint Viewer 97
- Added ability to connect to same PC automatically
- EXPERIMENTAL: added ability to force Bemused to use a specific Bluetooth channel
- EXPERIMENTAL: added ability for Bemused to try to find the server on the PC
- Added ability for the Bemused server to try to find which COM port to use automatically
- Added setting to use ID3 tags on the PC for song name display
- .ogg files are now treated as music files
- Time taken to load or refresh the song list has been dramatically reduced
- Fixed a bug where an incoming call while paused would play again
- Fixed a bug where long directory names caused a crash
- Fixed a bug where some directories might not be sorted properly
- Fixed a bug where shutting down the PC wouldn't save the settings in the Bemused server
- Fixed a couple of bugs related to installing skins
