Top technology providers deliver certified technologies to the UIQ platform

Symbian Partner Event, London, December 3, 2003 – UIQ Technology today announces the introduction of UIQ Selected, a partner program created around the UIQ platform. Members of UIQ Selected are third party software houses, which can provide mobile manufacturers with key software technologies tested and certificated on the UIQ Platform.

UIQ Selected offers tested and certified third party software technologies, which reduce development costs and integration time for UIQ licensees. When developing new media-rich mobile phones based on the UIQ platform, UIQ Selected will provide a shorter time-to-market and a more cost effective integration process.

UIQ Selected members are leading software houses committed to delivering high quality software technologies based on the successful UIQ platform. Current UIQ Selected members are AOL/Tegic, Art, Packet Video and Teleca.

"We are extremely pleased to have been chosen to lend our expertise in predictive text input to the UIQ Selected program, and we look forward to working with UIQ Technology and their licensees to continue to improve text input options for the next generation of smartphones," said Craig Peddie, Vice President and General Manager, Tegic Communications (wholly owned subsidiary of AOL Time Warner).

"ART is proud to be invited to UIQ Selected," said Miss Efrat Ramati, ART's Director Business Development & Sales. "UIQ Technology licensees can easily access simpliWrite and smARTwriter, ART's advanced handwriting recognition solutions. Our solutions operate seamlessly on UIQ Platform, offering the end-user great ease in using handwriting UI with over 30 languages including major European and Chinese. ART's smARTwriter solution has been inclusively selected by BenQ for their P30 smartphone."

"We are very pleased to participate in the UIQ Selected program," said Leon Chicheportiche, Vice President of Sales for PacketVideo Europe. "Advanced smartphones, like the SonyEricsson P900, are mobile showcases for important multimedia features like PacketVideo's pvCamcorder. With PacketVideo's market-leading mobile media technology and expertise, plus UIQ's flexible architecture, we can offer device OEMs outsourced custom embedded software solutions that deliver outstanding audio-visual quality."

"We are excited about the new program from UIQ Technology, it will help us to increase the quality of service to our joint customers even further," says Åsa Sundqvist, Director PC Connectivity at Teleca. "We have had very positive experiences working with the UIQ Platform since its start in 1999. Teleca's strategy is to be the world's leading Symbian Competence Centre and we believe this new program will help keep us in this position."

"This initiative will be of great benefit to our licensees, providing a quicker development process when creating mobile phones based on the UIQ platform," said Johan Sandberg, CEO, UIQ Technology. "With UIQ Selected mobile manufacturers can access high quality solutions to fit the UIQ platform, contributing to a substantial reduction of the number of companies a mobile phone manufacturer needs to involve when developing a new smartphone."
