While Microsoft is clearly hoping to benefit from a similar announcement on its advanced (eh? Did someone say advanced? ) platform, this announcement from Symbian is significant because the corporate market is not an area where Symbian is particularly massive right now, and this will provide the excellent connectivity offered by RIM services with the added functionality, stability and excellence of what is fast becoming the platform of choice for smartphones. U.K.-based Symbian has also been trying to expand the reach of its audience. Despite being owned by device makers Ericsson, Matsushita, Motorola, Nokia, Psion, Samsung, Siemens and Sony Ericsson, the software maker has not claimed much ground in the market for smart phone operating systems, where it competes with Microsoft.[/quote]
Now tell me he didn't just say that!
