Symbian and RIM have announced a new partnership in regard to the provision of always-on e-mail and other wireless connectivity capabilities. While Microsoft is clearly hoping to benefit from a similar announcement on its advanced (eh? Did someone say advanced? :roll: ) platform, this announcement from Symbian is significant because the corporate market is not an area where Symbian is particularly massive right now, and this will provide the excellent connectivity offered by RIM services with the added functionality, stability and excellence of what is fast becoming the platform of choice for smartphones. This deal with Microsoft is not a partnership as it is with Symbian, which makes sense really when you look at how Microsoft treats its parters (Heck, you'd have a longer term relationship with a queen bee than you would with the backstabbing beast).

Nokia, back in November, announced a licensing agreement with RIM where; "RIM has granted Nokia the right to use and distribute certain BlackBerry software in conjunction with Nokia products on a global basis.".
