Symbian and Accelerated Technology announce first result of partnership, XRAY support for Symbian OS

Mobile, Alabama - September 30, 2002 - Accelerated Technology, the Embedded Systems Division of Mentor Graphics Corporation (Nasdaq: MENT), today announced an add-on component to the XRAY debugger allowing full awareness, or visibility into the kernel's activities, for Symbian OS v6.1. The enhancement to XRAY debugger is a major step forward for developers of mobile phones since the component will give those developers the most complete target debugging environment available today for Symbian OS v6.1.

XRAY now fully supports the Symbian OS debug format and has an enhanced command set to display kernel objects, such as queues, semaphores, etc., and memory allocation for Symbian OS processes. XRAY also contains an OS Resources Window to provide a graphical view of the Symbian OS kernel objects. The product has been validated using an OMAP board from Texas Instruments and also includes a flash programming utility to further support the reference platform. XRAY, with this flash utility, along with Symbian Connect, gives the user total flexibility in how to load and build applications.

"This release now offers Symbian OS users the functionality usually only found with an embedded RTOS," said Robert Day, director of marketing for the Embedded Systems Division of Mentor Graphics. "We now provide the best debugging tool available for Symbian OS developers by enabling target-side debugging in both C/C++ and assembly language."

"The XRAY Debugger for ARM with Symbian OS awareness is the first result of the Mentor Graphics/Symbian partnership through the Symbian Platinum Partner Program," said Jerry Panagrossi, director of the Symbian Technology Partner Program. "The XRAY Debugger enables developers to pinpoint and correct software problems early in the development cycle, thereby reducing development costs and accelerating time-to-market when developing software for Symbian OS based phones and communicators."
