The Python for UIQ project (which is nothing to do with the Nokia Series 60 effort... yet) has been updated,, to allow for easier SIS based installation on your UIQ phone. It's still console based, so you'll need an IrDA or BT Keyboard to do anything on the phone, but it works great it on the WINS SDK. Based on Python 2.3.3, it's hoped the next release will use the latest Python 2.3.4 build.
