No more PLP

An article by Richard Bloor on the Wireless Development Network looks at the decision by some Symbian partners to drop the Psion Link Protocol (PLP), a protocol which has been used to connect mobile devices to desktop computers since Symbian's forerunner, SIBO, which powered the Psion Series 3's synchronisation and transfer capability.
I first heard this story on the Register after early adopters analyzed the data transfer between the Nokia 7650 and the desktop and noticed what would seem to be the absence of the antique protocol.
But the story is much more than a now you see it, now you don't, as Richard Bloor goes into the history of the protocol and looks at the future of connectivity between mobile and non-mobile devices.
It's certainly a good read!
