Press Release:

Audible Announces the Launch Of AudibleAir(TM); Groundbreaking Technology Bypasses the Desktop and Allows for Automated Wireless Downloads of Digital Audio To Smartphones

WAYNE, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 27, 2005--Audible, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADBL, www.audible.com), the leader in digital spoken audio information and entertainment, today announced the launch of the public beta test of AudibleAir(TM) , an innovative new service that allows the automated wireless download of secure digital audio files to smartphones. Now Audible customers can effortlessly bypass connecting to the desktop and program their Audible premium content to be delivered wirelessly anytime and anywhere. This initial public beta test will begin with the Palm(R) Treo(TM) smartphones. (1) Audible will also be demonstrating the beta for Windows Mobile and Symbian Series 60 smartphones today at the CTIA wireless conference in San Francisco.

With wireless access to more than 70,000 hours of audiobooks, periodicals and radio, and original programs, members of AudibleListener(R) can continue to experience the tremendous array of content they have always enjoyed at audible.com, but only now with a new level of mobility and convenience. Customers can now wake up each morning to find a digital audio edition of The New York Times or The Wall Street Journal on their Treo smartphones.

AudibleAir(TM) allows busy individuals to program how and when they want to receive their audio - delivered whether they are on the go or still asleep. Customers can refresh their content automatically as AudibleAir recognizes how much of a downloaded audio program they have heard. The application retains the portion they haven't listened to, while refreshing the device with new audio. Any content in the Audible My Library can be accessed by Audible customers and downloaded at any time, from any wireless connection.

"Wireless access to audible.com content has been a strategic goal since the company's inception," said Donald Katz, Chairman and CEO, Audible, Inc. "AudibleAir is a major step and instrumental element of our extension of the Audible service into next generation mobile devices that will become standard issue for consumers during the years to come."

The public beta will be available to the general public at www.audible.com/audibleair
