Arima signs license agreement for UIQ Platform
3GSM World Congress, Cannes, France, February 23, 2004 – UIQ Technology, developer of UIQ, the customizable media-rich user-interface platform for smartphones based on Symbian OS, announced today that Arima has signed up as a licensee for the UIQ platform.
Arima Group plans to develop a series of market driven advanced smartphones to sell to the world's leading mobile phone companies and mobile network service providers under an Original Design Manufacturing (ODM) business model. Arima Group is a leading ODM supplier of GSM/GPRS terminals to many top-tier brands worldwide.
Arima has signed an agreement to licence Symbian OS and the UIQ Platform for development of its media rich mobile phone for 2.5G and 3G networks worldwide.
Arima is the 4th publicly known UIQ licensee. Other licensees include: Sony Ericsson, Motorola and BenQ.
