Opera Mini 4.2 now official
Published by Steve Litchfield at 10:42 UTC, November 25th 2008
The Java-running, proxy-based, web browser Opera Mini v4.2 has now been officially released, with new Skins support, faster servers, compatibility with the mobile version of YouTube and Opera Desktop note syncing. Read on for more.

New in Opera Mini 4.2 (quoted from Opera themselves)
- Skins - Personalize Opera Mini by choosing a new colorful skin. We have reintroduced the popular skinning feature from Opera Mini 3.
- Performance - Opera Mini 4.2 can use our newly established server park in the US. This means significantly faster page downloads for our users in the Americas and Asia-Pacific region. Users in the rest of the world will also experience faster page downloads since we’ve reduced the load on our other servers.
- Video - We are working to make video content available on more phones through Opera Mini. If you have a new Sony Ericsson or Nokia phone, the chance is high that you can take Opera Mini for a spin on m.youtube.com.
- Sync your Notes -The handy Notes functionality from the Opera Desktop Web browser just got more portable through Opera Link. All of your notes are available in Opera Mini directly from the Bookmarks menu.
You can download Opera Mini 4.2 on your phone by directing its web browser to mini.opera.com

Does this work well with E71 - E71 is not listed as officially supported.

Hi all,
Which is better Opera Mini (free) or Opera Mobile (not free)?

Why is the icon size not increasing?

The best things in life are free :P

Opera Mobile for Symbian is a joke, and the latest version 9.5 has been rumoured for so long, it's now little more than a myth (despite occasional interim status updates)
Mini is where it's at, if you're OK with proxies and non-native app limitations, otherwise the native Nokia browser on S60 is the way to go.

That seems to be the strategy Opera is adopting, making the Opera Mini browser an alternative to S60 rather than a direct competitor.
A lot of people use both S60 and Opera Mini, as they both have their own respective strengths.

I agree. Nothing beats the mini as far as speed is concerned, but there are certain kind of scripts / functionalities on some websites for which you definitely need the S60 Browser.
