Here are two free UIQ applications that recently caught our eye. Swim is an application which allows you to automatically sync to a SyncML server on a schedule (e.g. every hour). PodcastPlayer is a podcatcher (podcast downloader) for UIQ 3 phones. Both these applications come from the Bergamot project, the aim of which is to release high quality, open source software for the UIQ platform,
Swim is a welcome addition as UIQ 3's built in SyncML software does not offer scheduled sync. Swim uses the built in software as a basis for its own functionality.
PodcastPlayer opens up a whole new area of audio content for UIQ 3 phone users. Podcasts are becoming an increasingly popular way to distribute episodic audio content. One feed you might consider adding is the All About Symbian Podcast.

The Bergamot project is also looking for developers who are interested in getting involved in UIQ 3 open source development. More details are available on the website, including details of some planned future projects.
