N-Gage at the GCDC in Leipzig: New Logo & Keynote Speech

Nokia is one of the main sponsors of the GC Developers Conference 2007 in Leipzig, Germany, through their N-Gage gaming brand. Nokia's Diarmuid Feeny gave a keynote speech at the event, discussing the potential growth of mobile gaming which could be brought about by making mobile games higher quality, and by making it easier to buy the  games in the first place. (via Future Watch) Also, Nokia appears to have come up with a new curvier logo for the Next Gen N-Gage platform, according to the GCDC sponsors' page.

Feeny revealed that 54% of S60 users do play mobile games, but 85% of those people only play games that come pre-installed on the phone. He also stated that 50% of phone users in general are willing to buy games, but less than 5% ever do, and only 2.5% do it more than once.  It appears that most potential gamers currently find buying mobile games difficult and unsatisfactory.

This all suggests that if games could be bought more easily and were guaranteed to be of higher quality (something the Next Gen N-Gage platform is supposed to achieve with downloads and demos) then there might be a huge increase in the number of people actually buying mobile games instead of just wanting to buy.
