'Official' Nokia local search utility unearthed?
Published by Steve Litchfield at 8:05 BST, October 21st 2006
Those intrepid Symbian Freaks have unearthed what appears to be the official Nokia local search tool (i.e. matches within entries on your device), as shown off in the E50. Pretty cool, and it works on all other 3rd Edition smartphones. I wonder whether it will be added to official support pages for other devices?

PalmOS devices have had a global search capability for a while now ;)

This is great - an essential app and a well implemented interface.
Interestingly, it searches ToDo notes which the S60 calendar doesn't acknowledge the existence of (PC Suite does sync them with Outlook and you can edit/view via AquaCalendar/Papyrus). It is a bit confusing when you enter a search item, and then drill-down to a todo item which seemingly doesn't include the text - you then have to fire up something like Papyrus to see what is really going on.

The link to e61life appears to be broken, is there anywhere else this can be downloaded from?

Err... there's a d/l link on the Symbian Freak page -

Some official comment from Nokia would be nice - it's a full Nokia-signed app and works perfectly..... Let's hope they put it up as a download on the Support pages for all other 3rd Edition devices soon.

Actually, nobody cares about Psalm OS...

It looks like somebody didn't really appreciate to see this app out in the wild. The e61life post where it originally appeared has vanished and the file is not available for download anymore form symbianfreak. You can still find it though.

All very odd. The Symbian Freak article's still there though.... they'll have to make some comment or other about the affair, I guess.....

All About Symbian certainly respects Palm, that's why they set up allaboutpalm.com! :)
(Admittedly there hasn't been much in the way of Palm news to actually add to it...)
