Rafe's Report from CTIA

Published by Ewan Spence at 13:06 UTC, April 19th 2006

CTIA and The Smartphone Summit, held at the start of April in Las Vegas, was one of the flagship mobile phone events in America. Rafe was there, from All About Symbian, to find out how the North American continent is viewing smartphones in 2006. His full report is online now.

Along with Symbian's plans for the year, Rafe took time to check out new devices and features from Nokia and Sony Ericsson, reporting on the keynotes, and trying to fighure out just what makes the European and American smartphone markets so different.

Fantastic report that Rafe, thanks very much. Made hugely interesting reading. As with each of the last several years the mobile industry seems on the cusp of something amazing with the possibilities high-speed data access seems to promise.

I also enjoyed your ponderings on the US/Europe market states. At first it seems amazing that the world's biggest market can be so inward looking. But then, if you listen to your average Londoner, you'd think the UK stopped just North of Barnet. Must be a part of Human nature that, when you become part of something so big, you assume nothing of any significance could live outside.
