New video rental on demand client for Symbian with Voddler

Published by at

Voddler has released a new client, making its debut on Symbian. Available direct from its site or the Ovi Store, Voddler is a video rental system which leverages the DRM options built into Symbian and its agreements with the Hollywood studios to bring the latest big films to your handset, including the Harry Potter series, Gnomeo and Juliet, and Red Riding Hood.

"At launch, the app has about 250 movies activated for mobile viewing. New titles will be added on a running basis from Voddler’s growing catalog of over 4,500 titles", writes Anders Sjoman on their blog.

With big name partnerships such as Paramount, Disney, Sony and BBC Worldwide, to name but four, the biggest issue of any video service (content) looks to have already been answered. There are some quirks, the main one being the application is region-locked to a handful of countries, probably down to licensing rights, and as such we can't give it a full test here in the UK, but if you're in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland or Spain, there are a number of free TV episodes and films to check out before you pay for the Hollywood features!
