The N8 Nokia Creative Photo awards, March edition

Published by at

Every month I tell myself that I'm not going to add the N8 photo awards as a link of interest and then every month one of the winning entries blows me away so much that I simply have to write about it. The '1st' pick this month is quite simply staggering - I've included a cut down version below so that you can nod your head and agree with me. This was captured on a phone? Here are the rest of the winners and other info.

Mantis

From the blog post:

The winning photo, 'Mantis' by Adam Obradovic (apochromat_net) superbly illustrates everything that makes the N8 so special as a ever-present camera. Adam was kind enough to share some details about his photo:

"This was the very first image I edited out of the N8 so it was a little experiment in a way at how well can the file hold up, and to show off the capabilities of the phone's camera…

I shot this on my balcony in Auckland, New Zealand and it took 3-4 shots from different angles before I was happy with this one compositionally. I also prefer 4:3 ration to 16:9 because it's closer to what I would be getting on my dSLR and medium format.

The mantis was taken in Macro mode on the N8 and some minor Photoshop editing, namely the Vignetting and Saturation. I think there is also High Pass Filter sharpening but that is minor and frankly the file didn't even need it."
