Samsung and Nokia trade places in UK as Finns go on top

Nokia continues to lead the mobile handset market in the UK (reports Mobile News). Over the Christmas period, the Finnish company kept its share at just over 30%, reclaiming the top spot from Samsung, who dropped back to a 21% share. Third place went to Sony Ericsson.

Research in Motion are also on the rise, with fourth place belong to them, pushing LG back to fifth. And the press darling of Apple? Nowhere to be seen, with only a small fraction of the overall market.

The numbers were crunched by GfK NOP, a leading market research company; so consider this a best guess, with the usual margins of error – but the broad strokes of where the various handset manufacturers are in relation to each other feels about right.
