Ovi Maps updated again, to 3.03(54)

Published by Steve Litchfield at 9:53 UTC, September 7th 2009

[updated] Nokia Beta Labs has quietly issued an update to Ovi Maps 3.3 - 'subversion' 54 for S60 5th Edition (only) is now available on the main Ovi Maps page. There's still no opportunity to install to mass memory, and v3.3 is still English-only, but at least some more of the rough edges have been knocked off. 'GPS data lost' no longer sounds every few minutes(!), but at the expense of laggy screen updates - it seems the GPS interruptions are being averaged out behind the scenes. Ultimately, the N97's communications software subsystems simply need a big update. v20 firmware can't come soon enough for me.

Amazing-just downloaded and my N97 is now locking onto GPS signal and not randomly losing it. In addition, my C drive has actually increased in value by about 3mb!!! Highly recommend download.
By the way I am still on v11 firmware as still waiting for issue of UK v12 for code 0585162.

Is it just my n97 or is there no vibration feedback when using the softkeys/shortcuts at the bottom of the screen in Maps as well as the My Location/Find Places etc icons on the N97, unless they are system themed buttons?

I had this problem and reported it for the previous version over on the Beta Labs forums, wondering if it is just me now.

Installed the update. Checked the weather button and it crashed! Phone restarted. Ho Hum!

I think they're heading in the right direction with the interface at least, if you'll excuse the pun, but how the heck can you plan a new route using a mobile device without incorporating current position - try as I might I haven't been able to figure it out and am assuming we're going to have to wait a while for this functionality to be reinstated at a later date?

Yeah, i couldn't find how to navigate to an address or to look up an address. Only their generic "search", and i couldn't figure out how to enter an address that was formatted the right way in that search box to display properly.

No thanks on this beta for now. :)
