Symbian formally announced the Symbian Academy program today. The program is aimed at supporting universities who are teaching students about developing Symbian OS software. Symbian will be providing course materials, training, technical support and guest lecturers. Symbian Academy reflects the need for a greater numbers of train Symbian OS developers.
No, not the technology, this is the Podcasting application that Nokia has released as a free beta for all 3rd Edition smartphones. If there's anyone around here who knows a bit about podcasting then it's our own Ewan. Here's his review.
According to an interview on Gamasutra, Nokia is planning to launch its next generation of games across its latest S60 smartphone range in the Spring of 2007, and a number of "gaming-oriented" smartphone models will also be made available later, possibly in 2008. The gaming models would still be S60 smartphones, as the original N-Gage was, but they would have landscape screens and hardware accelerated graphics. The fate of the N-Gage name is unclear however.

Ewan's been mulling over the arrival of .mobi, a domain extension dedicated to mobile access. .mobi has its fans, but it appears that Ewan's not one of them, arguing that it'll cause confusion and fragmentation.
