PalmInfoCenter is reporting that Palm has announced and is working on a new Linux based mobile platform. The new platform was announced at a Palm Analyst meeting and is described as a new foundation for Palm. The new platform will compete with Symbian OS, although Palm has said they will not be licensing the platform.
The Open C SDK plug-in for developers is now available from Forum Nokia. Open C is built on top of Symbian PIPs and together they together they provide a number of standard, familiar C function libraries on the S60 platform. This allows the reuse existing code from other platforms speeding up development time and cost.

Forum Nokia has announced the launch of the Forum Nokia Wiki which aims to create a useful resource for developers for sharing knowledge, how to's, code snippets and more. Any Forum Nokia member (free registration) can and is encouraged to contribute to the content and evolution of the Wiki.
PyUIQ is a Python interpreter for UIQ 2 and UIQ 3 phones. It is based on Python for S60 (PyS60). The first version implements a limited set of libraries, but improvements will hopefully be made in subsequent releases. The first version of PyUIQ can be downloaded from SourceForge.
Simon Judge has announced the availability of an alpha release of SymRAD a free rapid application development tool for developing user interface (UI) based applications for Nokia S60 3rd Edition and UIQ 3.x. Applications are created via an XML definition file which includes screen definitions and Javascript.
Red Five Labs have announced a Community Technology Preview of their .NET Compact Framework for Symbian OS. Aimed at developers it allows mobile applications targeting (written using) Microsoft's .NET Compact Framework 1.0 to run unchanged on Symbian OS. The preview version is for S60 2nd Edition, but other versions will be supported in later releases. More information is available on the Red Five Labs website and blog.
