DataViz has announced the availability of their Documents To Go suite for the Sony Ericsson P800, P900 and P910i. The suite allows you to view, edit and create Microsoft Word and Excel files and view Powerpoint files on the phone. Highlights include support for embedded images and tables in word, InTact technology (aimed at preserving document integrity in phone PC transfers, and TrueType font support. Documents To Go faces stiff competition from the incumbent office suite software package Quickoffice (which is included on most P910i's out of the box). Winner of the best app at the recent "Orange Code Camp," F(x) 2.0 beta 3 has been released. It's more than a graphical calculator, and there's a touch of a programming langauge to it, but for professionals, F(x) is certainly worth looking at in closer detail. There are a number of applets available for the environment that can provide notes, outlines, conversions and rapid development of form based apps.

Zi Corporation's Decuma Alphabetic for the the Px00 series has now been released. It is a piece of software that adds an alternative handwriting recognition input method. It is modelled more cloesly on real writing - you can write a word along a line and there are no special characters, gestures or styles to use. It has excellent automatic multilingual support for Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Icelandic, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish and Swedish (both letters and words). It also allows for user customised charcters to allow a macro like function to input frequently used words of phrases.
VisualIT has announced the availability of Rough Guide Map London. The program is an interactive map guide to London produced in conjunction with Rough Guides the well known travel publisher. Features include interactive scrollable maps, with links to place of interest, powerful search features, categorised information and more. Guides for Amsterdam, Barcelona, Dublin, Madrid, New York, Paris, San Fransico and Washington are also available.
Great Ape Software have released No Man's Land for UIQ. This game in the style of Command and Conquer pits you against your phone in a battle for control of land and oil wells. Features include advanced AI opponent, save game feature, and multiple levels. There are 22 built in scenarios and 3 different difficulty settings. The game also has a scenario editor and a random level generator so you'll never run out of level to play.

Motorola have announced their latest UIQ smartphone - the A1010. It is a Symbian 7, UIQ 2.1, 3G (WCDMA) device with a 2 megapixel camera (the largest on a Symbian device to date). Other features include Bluetooth and USB connectivity, support for transflash memory cards, A-GPS functionality, a second, VGA, front facing camera for video calling, and multimedia streaming, playback and capture (MP3 and MPEG). Motorola say the phone will be available in Q4 2005.
Along with the tantalising tagline "UIQ 3.0 is now Commercially Available," UIQ Techologies are showing off version 3.0 of their interface. Geared to one handed operation, it promises better network support, and advanced technologies. Well have more later...
UIQ has announced that Teleca has become a member of the UIQ 3.0 Selected program. The UIQ Selected program aims to speed up development of the UIQ phone bu providing off the shelf components. Teleca will be submitting it's PC Connectivity Suite foe acceptance in the program. The PC Connectivity Suite provides a range of connectivity services for a mobile user, within the areas Synchronisation, Device Management, Multimedia and Personalisation.
