SIS Tool is a PC program for examining sis files (designed with the Sony Ericsson UIQ phones in mind). It shows you information about the selected sis file (including the size it will use on installation, version numbering and more). Well worth a look if you use lots of third party software.
UIQ have named Tegic Communications into the UIQ Selected Program (announces UIQ and Tegic). Tegic are a subsidiary of AOL, and manage the T9 Text Input Software. As part of the UIQ Selected program, the T9 option can be presented as an 'optional, fully tested add on' to UIQ licencees.
iSilo is one of the most popular eBook and Document readers available for Palm OS, Pocekt PC and Windows Mobile. Now at version 4.2, they've announced a beta version for UIQ devices. They're looking for solid feedback on the application. If it's half as good as the Palm OS version, then all the current eBook readers better be ready to raise their game.
Epocware's controversial Today view and UI sheel, Handy Day 2005 has been updated to include a german language build, a new default skin and a few bug fixes. Registered users can download their new version from Epocware.
Just like Nobel prizes, AAS Mega Game awards are both rare and sometimes retrospective. The early bug in Pool 2 (reported in our first review) seems to have been sorted out and we've been hooked on this now for the last month. It's a superb implementation on the Symbian platform and we have no hesitation in edging it firmly into Mega Game territory. Read the review here
AvantGo have announced that the long awaited upgrade to their new version (named 2005) is available for beta testing. Versions for both Series 60 and UIQ are now available. The key feature is improved wireless sync and better support for wireless browsing. AvantGo faces stiff competition from both RSS and direct anytime browsing via products such as Opera.
Christian Brandoni,the author of eSwan,eTurbografx16 just came up with another interesting application.eCast is an Atari ST emulator.Its still in early beta stage and there are some keyboard issues with Moto UIQ devices but users have reported it to be quite usable.The first beta version of eCast and screenshots are attached.You can find Christian over at My-Symbian Forums.Hope to see him here soon.
CellPhoneSoft have released a public beta version of FrontView. FrontView is designed to enhance both the appearance and functionality of the flip closed standby mode on your UIQ phone.

After a bit of a false start the Motorola A1000 is now availble in numbers on various 3 networks thoughout Europe. The A1000 is the 3rd 3G UIQ handset from Motorola. There is currently a special running in our shop with the A1000 available from free (and with periods of half price line rental and free Bluetooth headset) subject to contract.

Lonely Cat Game have ported over their popular e-mail client from Series 60 to UIQ. Profimail uses a custom UI to maximise screen space for reading and dealing with email. Features include synchronisation of messages with a mail server, support for attachments and HTML messages, built in file viewer, zip viewer and image viewer, rules for filtering and selective message download and more. Well worth investigating if you have been frsutrated by the limitations of the in built software.
