Symbian worldwide smartphone share up to 67%

What a busy time (but perhaps an appropriate one) to divulge a mass of stats from the smartphone world. Canalys' latest  report shows that 64 million smartphones shipped worldwide in 2006. Symbian's world market share was up to 67%, of which Nokia accounted for 50% and Sony Ericsson 5%.

The perfect companion to a power-hungry smartphone?

Quite possibly... I review Proporta's new all-encompassing USB Mobile Device Charger, more a comprehensive charging system suitable for worldwide use of smartphones, PDAs, iPods, etc. Well thought out, even if you do need a gadget bag to keep all the bits in!

The Last Smartphone

Do yourself a favour and set aside 20 minutes today to read Krisse's new editorial, comparing smartphones (among other things) to in-flight airline meals, haute couture fashion and tinned food. Puzzled? Go read. Krisse argues that there's no such thing as a real smartphone revolution - at least not today and not until smartphones are as disposable as light bulbs or umbrellas.

Charge your Nokia via USB with CA-100

A new accessory has appeared on the Nokia site. The CA-100 allows you to charge your Nokia phone from a USB port. This will be a boon for frequent travellers who carry a laptop or have access to a computer and want to leave their main charger behind. Similar accessories are available on eBay, but are not always reliable.
