Symbian and its partners today announced that OPL will become an Open Source project. The exact workings are still being worked out, but All About Symbian will be involved in the planning. Various Symbian partners have indicated that they will be looking to assist the current Development Team in porting OPL to the Series 60 and UIQ devices.

PSILoc have released a new version of the application Space Doubler. It now compresses more areas of the phone like attachements and files created by Java applications. There is also a new option to compress/decompress all applications.
Firmware 4.37 for the 7650 is set to be released and available from Nokia Service Centres on or around December 22nd (but may be available before this). The new version fixes several bugs including the drop of line2 after 59 seconds bugs (that only some people have had).
Epocware have updated Hnday Day to version 2.0. New in this version is support for favourite contacts, an auto start feature, creation of messages directly from Handy Day and a sort option for messages and to do. Looks like Handy Day just got even better. Defintely worth trying.

Fotodock have launched a beta version of a phot upload service. Once registered users can upload photos to a public or private folder directly from their 7650. A great way to get photos off your 7650 and share them with the world.
TomTom has updated its city map application to a 2003 version. The new version is claimed to have enhanced maps (larger, and more detailed). It seems that existing users have to buy the new version.

Answering Machine is a software based answer machine for your Nokia 7650. It will allow you to answer incoming calls, play a precorded message and then record a message. There's one significant bug though - the microphone is not muted when a call is answered. This is a system level limit.
