OPL Runtime for 9500 Released

OPL (The Open Programming Language for Symbian OS) is now available for the Nokia 9500 and other Series 80 v2.0 devices (such as the 9300). With this runtime, OPL programs for the 9210 should run happily on the new device. The runtime can be found at the Sourceforge Project page.

AvantGo 2005 beta announced

AvantGo have announced that the long awaited upgrade to their new version (named 2005) is available for beta testing. Versions for both Series 60 and UIQ are now available. The key feature is improved wireless sync and better support for wireless browsing. AvantGo faces stiff competition from both RSS and direct anytime browsing via products such as Opera.

Proporta announce Bluetooth Keyboard

Proporta have announced the availability of their Bluetooth keyboard. Priced at £70 or €100 the keyboard includes drivers for both UIQ and Series 60. The keyboard is unusual in that it has a full row of number keys, making typing a little bit more like a full sized keyboard. Proporta also carry a number of cases for various Smartphones.

Symbian Themes, one of our sister sites, has now been relaunched with a new look and more features than ever before. You can download themes for your Series 60 2.0+ device (6600, 7610, 6620, 6670, 6260, 6630), as well as wallpaper, operator logos and smart lanucher themes for all Series 60 devices. A Big Hi To Penny-Arcade'ers

Having a kick-ass review means we usually get linkage from a lot of strange places, and it's fun to watch them come in. Yesterday, there was a big spike from a new site. So a big american hi there to everyone coming from Penny Arcade to read Pathway to Glory thoughts. We've more exclusive stuff coming up in the next week, but to answer the one point raised by Tycho, yes, we think Nokia are finally working out the strengths of the system and releasing kick ass games.

Ewan Talks to Forum Nokia about Preminet

Back in October, Nokia announced a new area for the Finnish company. Preminet would be a software store retailer, that would work with the carriers and developers, providing over the air download services for handset owners. With strong online competition from Handango and Symbian Gear, All About Symbian were interested in what Nokia could bring to the table. We sat down with Steen Thygesen, from Forum Nokia, to talk about this new venture.
