AAS Insight #200: Retrospective

After just over four years, we've reached the 200th edition of the AAS Insight Podcast. To celebrate, we look back to the first and hundredth editions of the show, marvelling at the changes that have taken place, but also finding some surprising similarities. Each of the team also chooses their personal favourite Symbian device from the last decade, with the emotional attachment factor being just as important as technical capabilities.

AAS Insight #198: 11m downloads, Symbian in the UK

In our first All About Symbian Insight for 2012, number 198, we start with the news that there are now more than 11 million downloads a day from Nokia Store. Steve highlights the QtInfo utility and remarks on the improved experience of installing Qt apps on Symbian devices. The major topic this week is discussion of the availability of Symbian devices in the UK's High Street shops and the decline of Symbian in Western Europe in 2011.

AAS Insight #197: Nokia 801T, Nokia Belle

In All About Symbian Insight 197, we start with a detailed discussion of two news items: the announcement of the Nokia 801T in China and the renaming of Symbian Belle to Nokia Belle. Rafe and Steve then ponder battery consumption and cellular connectivity (fast battery drain from low strength 3G signal). We also discuss the graduation of the QML version of the Nokia Store from Nokia's Beta Labs and the recent release of facinate, a third party Facebook client.

As a follow up to Steve's editorial from last week the team then discuss the relative merits on the Nokia N8 and C7. The second half of the podcast has a Christmas theme: David, Steve and Rafe share the mobile accessory they would like to find under the Christmas tree and then ponder the possibility of doing Christmas shopping on a smartphone.
