Nokia's latest Series 60 phone, the 7610, was announced at CeBit today. No info on release dates, but the 8mb internal memory, and a 64mb 'Reduced Size' MMC card, this megapixel cameraphone (runinng Symbian OS 7.0s) is clearly squaring up for a fight with the soon to arrive Sendo X.

At the moment it calculates the depth of field based on the focal length and aperture of the lens. This Symbian press release confirms that Panasonic are to release a Series 60 device the X700. Details are vague at the moment but its a flip with camera. I'm sure more details will be released soon (updated picture now included). Press release attached.
Nokia and Texas Instrumentsannounce a Series 60 Reference Design to help new manufacturers to get started on Series 60 design, providing a shorter time to market.
Nokia today announced that leading Chineese handset manufacturer Lenovo has licensed Series 60. They have done this under the Complete Design Model for Series 60 also announced today. Breaking into China has to be seen as a major advance for Symbian. Press release in details.
There is now an official Series 60 Website. According to Infosync it has been created by Nokia but is supported by Panasonic, Sendo, Samsung and Siemens as well. What's interesting about the site is that it seems to be trying to distance itself from Nokia and makes little direct reference to its current ownership. Series 60 is going to have its own stand at 3GSM and a Series 60 C++ developer book will be announced at the event.
Apple has released iSync 1.4. The new version adds support for the Nokia 3660 / 3620, the Nokia 6600 and the Siemens SX1. iSync now supports all currently available Series 60 phones.
DreamSpring is a messaging application that allows you to send contact and calendar entries to other mobile devices in human readable formats (txt and wml). Multiple entires can be sent at once to multiple users via Bluetooth, infrared, MMS and e-mail. Defintely worth a look if you're a regular beamer.
Symbianware have recently launched two new products. PowerDictaphone is an enhanced recorder program for Series 60 phones. MessageStorer s a program to allow you to save your SMS, MMS, emails in a text file and send them to your PC.
Siemens has made available a firmware (version 06) update for the SX1 which you can download and install yourself. Additionally some free software for the phone is also available - this is a result of Siemens liscensing software from Symbianware. Currently available are Astronix, Powerball, Powerlock and Full Screen Caller, and there's more on the way too.
Mobile Burn have posted that Panasonic are to bring out a clamshell Series 60 device the X700 in July. It does not say much but states it has Bluetooth and a TFT screen. Lets hope Panasonic confirm this themselves soon and provide us with some more details.
Forum Member J2K has set-up a Themes site for Symbian phones like Nokia 6600 (and eventually the Nokia 7650/3650's). The site is called Symbian Themes and features a nice layout.
