EMame is a port of Mame to Symbian devices by Peter van Sebille. EPOC32 - ER5 (Psion Series 5 MX/Series 7) and ER6 (Nokia 9210 Series) and Symbian UIQ (P800/p900) versions of EMame have been out there for a while. Staffan Ulfberg has been nice enough to finally port EMame to Series 60!It has been tested and its known to be working with the Nokia N-Gage and Nokia 6600. EMame doesn't work with the 7650/3650 because these devices don't have enough RAM to run it, yet.Lets hope the lite version will solve the RAM issues.
As the Nokia 6600 becomes more widely available more reviews are popping up on the internet. On Mobitopia Russell Beattie gives us his impressions. The overall reaction seems very positive for this second generation smartphone, although reviewers do seem to be expecting more and more from small devices!
MobileVB Solo from Appforge is now available for the Series 60 and other platforms. The Solo programs allows you to develop programs for one platform (rather than the multiple platforms you have with the full MobileVB). By purchasing for just one platform there is a considerable cost saving for the developer.

There is an ongoing effort to port Real Network's HELIX DNA Client to the Symbian OS platform. Recently several programs have been released for Series 60 with the intention of helping you find you way around, ranging from European wide solutions down to individual towns and cities. The Wayfinder, gpMobile and TomTom City Map programs demonstare the flexibility of Series 60. With the addition of a bluetooth GPS these programs should ensure you're never lost again (except when you forget the phone...). Here's a quick run down of all three programs.
Psiloc have released Vision for Series 60. Vision allows you to assign videos to contacts that are then played when that contact rings you. You effectively have video ringtones. The software also supports display of full screen pictureson an incoming call. The software is compatiable with all Series 60 handsets.
Cibenix announced today that their Active Desk and Active Today products, which implement today screen like functionality for Symbian phones are now compatiable with the Nokia 6600.

Sendo and Opera have today announced that the new Series 60 Sendo X will have Opera rather than a WAP browser. Opera's Small Screen Rendering allows HTML sites to be viewed without having to use horizontal scrolling, making it far more user-friendly. EwanFreEPOC saw a demo of the Sendo X with Opera and was impressed.
Russell Beattie (of Mobitopia) has taken time out after a week with his N-Gage to write up why the N-Gage is a Disaster for Nokia. It makes for painful reading, but it's hard to find fault with the symptoms, or the proposed cure.
OggPlay is an Ogg vorbis audio player for smartphones.It was first ported for the Sony Ericsson p800 smartphone running UIQ in April this year.The good news is that it has been ported to Series 60 and its now in early-alpha-preview stage - version 0.10.OggPlay has been tested with the following phones: Siemens SX-1, Nokia N-Gage, Nokia 7650 and it will probably work with other Series 60 phones.This release has couple of limitations.For more info and download vist OggPlay's website
