All About Symbian is a team effort, with many people helping out and doing what they can to make AAS a true community. But at the top, there have to a few people watching over everything, taking care of the nuances, the servers, website updates, and all the other things that are needed to keep the site running. So here they are:
The Current Team
Rafe Blandford - Rafe started All About Symbian in the Summer of 2000. Since then the site has gone through one name change (it was once All About ER6) and it has seen the sort of growth Printed Media Empires can only dream of. At the end of the day, he's in charge and has the final say on everything. And in no way does he look like Harry Potter.
Jim Hughes - Jim spends his days developing trading systems so that chaps who still wear braces can wager vast sums of money on the seemingly random fluctuations of the financial exotica. He is also a long term technology fanatic, and has owned numerous Psions and Smartphones. He spends far too much time tinkering with, and writing about mobile phones here, on Mobitopia and on his blog, and not enough time developing for them
Christopher Rydberg - A devote Mac user and big time gaming fanatic, Chris signed on to share a little of his love for the N-Gage with the world. He's has been gaming since the Atari 2600, collecting since the NES, and writing about games since 1997. He is married with no children and lives in Taipei, Taiwan.
Ewan Spence - Ewan Spence is one of the Senior Members of All About Symbian. Having spent close to ten years with mobile computing, in both his personal and professional life, Ewan has seen the evolution from small databank to full fledged powerful pocket computers. As well as (whatever) on All About Symbian, he is a regular contributor to Your Symbian, and does a significant amount of on-device development using OPL. Given that he was influential in promoting OPL to Symbian and it's partners (as well as presenting a seminar on it at the recent Symbian Dev Expo) that's not surprising. Previously he has been involved in setting up FreEPOC - a Developer Group to promote and support freeware applications written in Symbian OS, the mobile blogging site Symbian Diaries, and contributes to many News and Tech websites on Mobile Computing matters.
Steve Litchfield - Steve has been working full-time in the Psion and Symbian industry for the last ten years, as writer (Palmtop magazine, among others) web author (3lib.ukonline.co.uk) and programmer. He has a wife and small daughter and these days has to do everything in short (Daddy...) bursts, desperately trying to concentrate on the (Daddy!...) job in hand.
Freelancers, Retired, Hangers On and Dearly Departed
Jordan Holt - Jordan featured mainly on our Forum, where his ever present moods kept the forumlight and friendly. He was also the nearest we've ever got (so far) to an actual journalist; the number of interviews he gathered around the Developers Exposium was phenonemal. Pity his P800 crashed and we lost them all. Surfaces occasionally to do some reviews.
Sophie Kano - Sophie was the editor of Your Symbian (YS), our eclectic fortnightly magazine available by free email subscription. During the day she's hard at work on her Wildlife Conservation Studies, but by night, she can be found hard at work on her 9210 Communicator. Alas the mating season and other consideration s(like the cost of shipping a P900 out to here) meant she had to step down from the Editors Chair.
Andy Langdon - Andy is a long term MUMPS programmer for Healthcare software. He fully believes that Smartphones are going to be the next big thing in computing and become the main data communication device for the masses. It will probably have as much effect (if not more) than the advent of the PC. Outside of All About Symbian, Andy can be found relaxing with a beer watching his beloved Glouchester play Cricket.
Robin Talboom - "Dazler" is our wizard with the html. As well as being a regular poster in the forums, he's authored a lot of the back end databases and on line editing screens the Admin Staff use to maintain the site.
What About You?
AAS isn't just the Admin Team though. There are many people who help with the site, be it through moderating the Forum, editing sections of the site, writing feature articles for Your Symbian, and a million other things. Their help is just as important, and without them we couldn't make AAS the successfull community it has become. Thank you!
