They might be a touch late to the party, but Zombies are still cool enough to feature in their own games. The reanimated corpses of the dead are attacking once more under cover of night in Breakdesign's 10pm, and it’s your job to keep them contained in one area. Let too many escape and it’s game over. But there’s a twist. Just like Zombies in real life (err...) these inferni only come out at night.

10pm - Zombie Attack on SymbianBreakdesign have kept 10pm a pretty simple game – as the Zombies rise up from the ground you tap the screen on where you want to target your crossbow. As the bolts are relatively slow moving (and the zombies are some distance away) you’re going to have to lead your target and make sure that they don’t hide behind any handy trees or fences, in order to weaken and eventually destroy them.

Don’t let them reach the edge of the screen, because that’s when your life meter starts to drop towards death (and presumably eventual zombification). It’s as simple as that. A nice diversion, that looks wonderfully stylish and fabulous, in a comic book sort of way, with various online high score tables that you can get involved with, in a sort of manic “I’m the best zombie killer out there” way.

You won't play this for long, but while you do, you will enjoy it.

But Breakdesign have thrown a little twist into this title, and the name gives a hint to it. The zombies will only be around between 10pm and 6am each day. You want to hunt ‘em, you need to wait till they come out. There is a ‘backdoor’ in the code that will let you play at any time, just watch the sun (not going to say any more, it’s like a game within a game).

Start the game before 10pm and you get a cutesy “where is the heart” game that has you taking control of a flying balloon, that wants to kiss other balloons with hearts and avoiding black balloons. Is it a standalone game? No. Is it a nice diversion? Yes. Is this left field thinking from the marketing department? No doubt.

The charm of this package has won me over. It’s quirky, it sets out to be a ‘timewasting’ game with a bit of skill, and it’s got the time- hook to hopefully make it stand out in your mind and see what’s going on. I like it.
