A completely new game from one of my favourite S60 developers, MicroPinball: Casino is now online in demo and commercial form in the AAS software store. Screenshot below. The graphics are pretty smooth on all portrait QVGA S60 phones, despite using software rendering.
Looks like we're getting to the stage where serious apps and games can now be written in Python for S60 - witness Jomtris, released today, complete with (late) festive theme, which works on all devices with portrait QVGA displays. Screen and links below.
It's the first N-Gage survival horror title and it involves killing large numbers of zombies in a wrecked airport. But is it any good? Find out with Ewan as he goes a-blasting in Resident Evil: Degeneration. Along the way he finds the game design too 'square', the default controls too frustrating and the graphics too limited. Yet, despite all this, he still recommends it overall as 'fun' for all would-be zombie vigilantes...
Yes, we know we're very late in reporting this, but better late than never... The new installment of Capcom's infamous franchise Resident Evil: Degeneration is available on the N-Gage platform. Based on a recent CGI film of the same name, RE:D is a horror survival game where you have to fight zombies in an airport. Not very seasonal, but there you go! You can get the game from the N-Gage application's showroom section, if you can't see it select "Options" and "Update Now" and then "Available Games", and you may also see it in the "Latest Games" section.
Crash! On the N-Gage. Or more precisely Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 3-D makes an appearance just in time for Christmas. The themed arcade karting game based on the Crash Brandicoot characters makes a return to the N-Gage, after a rather poor effort on the N-Gage classic. Thankfully Vivendi's little racer is far more fun this time around. The free demo is online now, and the full game is 8 Euros.
It's possibly the best game on N-Gage - ever. Or so we reckon, with Ewan Spence giving Metal Gear Solid Mobile a much-earned 90% score and a Megagame award on All About N-Gage. From the atmosphere to innovative gameplay and plenty of surprises along the way, MGS Mobile is solid stealth combat and fully worthy of its place in the Metal Gear Solid canon.
The much-anticipated N-Gage title Metal Gear Solid Mobile is now out in the 'Available games' section of the N-Gage client. Go look! The full game is £6 in the UK showroom, I've got some screens for you below the break...
Here on All About N-Gage, Ewan's been putting the latest N-Gage game through its paces. Boom Blox starts as a great idea but quickly disappoints with limited levels, a level editor but no way to share your creations, and generally average gameplay. You can read the full review of Boom Blox here.
Boom Blox has arrived on the N-Gage and is available for download. The EA helmed game is famous for having Steven Spielberg as part of the development process. Many were surprised at the appearance of this mixed puzzle/strategy game, but the initial Wii version gained critical acclaim. Now it's available on the N-Gage.
Our very own Tzer2 has been blasting away in a military helmet for days, in order to bring you the AAS review of Astraware's My Little Tank. It's a competent mobile game but it's let down by poor level mechanics (having to play them over and over again after dying) and by the lack of any multiplayer action.
AikonLab has released the first version of a new accelerometer take on an old classic: Frozen Bubble Twisted. Grab the beta here and get your comments and feedback in to the project's contributors. (via p@sco)
There are now six separate competitions running simultaneously to promote the N-Gage platform, with some rather good prizes ranging from phones and games to a big pile of Star Wars and football goodies. We've collected together all the links and info you need to enter these contests and grab some loot. As these contests have been poorly advertised there is actually a very good chance of winning too... :-)
